Seminar on Maritime Engineering for Science Students ICSE/ISC

WE WERE HONORED to be host to a seminar conducted by MR. Ketan Chakra Narayan, from the ANGLO-Eastern Training Institute.

His purpose for visiting our campus was to enlighten our science stream students of ASIS about the future of Marine Engineering. Many of us are unaware of future prospects in the field of Marine Sciences.
Highlights of his seminar were:-

Career in Navigation field & Merchant Navy

Marine engineering is the branch of study that deals with the design, development, production, and maintenance of the equipment used at sea and on board sea vessels like boats, ships, etc. It’s adjoining are spheres like naval architecture and nautical science. A marine engineer is a professional who is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all major mechanical and engineered equipment onboard a ship. There are many mechanical systems that help in the operations of any vessel like the propulsion mechanics, electricity and power generation system, lubrication, fuel systems, water distillation, lighting, and air conditioning system, etc.

Two-thirds of the earth is covered with water. For engineering students who don’t mind getting their feet wet, the diverse field of marine engineering offers many career opportunities in one of the most growing and sustaining job markets.

The major advantage of becoming a marine engineer is that students entering careers in marine engineering have nearly 100% placement rates because the demand for them is always so great.
He explained the future of this field using multimedia and it was really a very fruitful experience attending his seminar.

Many thanks to our management for organising such a seminar.
