Hindustani Classical Music Event 2014 ASIS Group ICSE/ISC

Visit by Vidushi Sunandaji Sharma on April 25, 2014.

The Students of ASIS and SBPS had a wonderful experience of an interactive session with the renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist Vidushi Sunandaji Sharma. The main aim of organizing such an event was to evoke interest in the student’s heart and respect for our culture and tradition.

The renowned personality was introduced to students by Mr. Uday Bhatt of Spicmecay an organization of Bhavnagar which encourages the young budding artists from various schools to meet renowned artists of international fame.

Amarjyoti Mam, the children, and the staff of the school felicitated this artist by offering her mementos and flowers. This was followed by a prayer song and the welcome song by the school choir team. The lighting of the lamps was done by the Guest and Amarjyoti Mam herself.

A mesmerizing classical vocal presentation of Thumri, Dadra, Khayal, and folk songs were sung by the renowned artist. The children, staff, and the invitees all were awestruck and enthralled by the awesome performance by the artist Vidhushi Sunanda Sharma. It was an experience of a lifetime for many of the students who loved music.

An interactive session followed the program and Sunandaji answered some questions put by the students of both the schools. She answered the questions asked by the students to their satisfaction. She spoke very high about the students who sang at the function and appreciated the discipline of the students and the interest shown by them.

Smt Vidhushi Girija Devi a Padma Bhushan Awardee and a doyen of Indian Classical Vocal Music is her Gurumata.

She is a visiting teacher at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has made a performance at many national and international events. Like Tansen Sangeet Sanmelan Gwalior Saptak Festival, Ahmedabad and Pancham Nishad, Mumbai.
